Ayer y Hoy (Yesterday and Today)

Yesterday Ryann and I just literally sat around the house all day.  We didn't set foot out of the apartment but we definitely needed the rest.  Saturday night we fell asleep at 9 and slept through the night until 930 am Sunday morning.  I guess we really needed the rest.  We woke up and Carmen made us eggs, bacon and toast for breakfast and then we came back into our room and laid around.  We did some homework little by little and played on our computers, uploaded pictures and chatted.  Eventually it was late enough so people at home were waking up, our parents and boyfriends, so we chatted with them.  I read the entire book Beastly, and it was ok, but I wouldn't recommend it to someone who reads often.  It was a really easy read and was way too predictable hence the correlation with Beauty and the Beast.  Oh well, I thought I should at least give it a try!

I think the only lifelike thing we did yesterday was shower and eat food that Carmen made us.  We had chicken wings (not fried but seasoned) and tortillas esponales, which is a mixture of potatoes and eggs and seasoning.  It's awesome!

For dinner we had hamburgers with cheese and ketchup and mustard.  Muy americano! (Very American)  But it did taste a little different.  I think the patty was made with lamb instead of burger.

Today we woke up and did the usual morning routine before school.  Had a piece of toast and a juice box and Carmen gave us an apple for a snack.  We packed our bags and headed down to the bus stop.  Got on the bus and went to school, successfully again without getting off too early.  Our conversation class went by as normal until we started talking about what types of food we normally eat in the United States.  We were listing off multiple things such as sandwiches, tacos, burritos, salads, etc.  WARNING: Here comes a semi-explicit part. HA. We were trying to explain to our teacher, Alvaro, that we eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches a lot and if he has heard of that.  Here, they rarely have peanut butter anyways, so he had never heard of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.  We asked him what peanut butter was in Spanish, which is creme de cacahuates.  Because of his accent, when he said PEANUT butter in English, it came out PENIS butter.  Ryann and I couldn't contain our laughter. Penis butter, it was hilarious.  Then, every time we would control ourselves and try to act like the adults we should be, he would repeat PENIS butter again, and then funniest part was that he laughed with us because he thought we were laughing at the fact we eat PB&J sandwiches.  It was absolutely hilarious.  We laughed for a good 20 minutes straight.

After school we came home and Carmen had made us Gazpacho, cold tomato soup, NOT A FAN!  I don't like tomatoes as it or tomato soup, much less when it is cold.  Anyways, other than that the meal was fantastic.  We had fish with a sauce on top that had mushrooms and carrots in it, rice, and bread.  To finish our meal we had flan with a sauce and pineapple underneath.  It was very tasty.  We took a nap and when out shopping with some friends we made here, Hanna and Amber.  Ryann and I had to go get a book for class which cost 11 euros, stupiiddd.  After that we hit up some stores and I bought some clothes, oops.  I got a pair of shorts, 2 shirts and a pair of sandals for 39 euros.  After leaving the store, I realized that the man at the cash register had not rang up my sandals.  I wanted to go back in and pay for them but then I decided I wouldn't even know how to communicate with him in Spanish to tell him I didn't steal them and he forgot to ring them up.  So, I decided that it would be in my best interest just to keep the sandals, even though I feel semi-guilty about it.  Oh well, it was his fault because I saw him scan them, it just didn't go through I guess.

Now, Ry and I are back in our room with our new purchases.  We are going to chat with our family and boys and do some homework and call it a night.  Tomorrow, we are going to try and go to the beach if the weather permits because I want to swim and enjoy the sun some more.  The time is going by much quicker and I am enjoying my time here, but cannot wait until my butt is on an airplane flying home!

Muchos Besos (Many kisses)

Vaya con Dios!
