Cerrado Lunes

Mondays are always hard days.  Especially after a weekend excursion to another city.  Everyone is tired and not wanting to be at school.  We got to school and Alvaro had decided to have us watch a movie in class, Mar Adentro.  It was ridiculously hot in our room and with the shades pulled and no one talking sleep was calling my name.  But, I stayed awake and enjoyed the movie and understood most of the words (with the help of subtitles) and the ones I was unsure of I wrote down to look up later.

In grammar class, for all of you Spanish speakers, we went over the differences between por and para and we all know how big of a pain that is.  My head felt like it was going to explode and I was just so ready to be done with that class.  Our listening class went as usual.  Some chats with Esther and then an listening exercise.

After school we came home and had lunch (Paella and bread).  We laid down for a bit and then headed out to meet up with our friends Hanna, Amber and Natalie to go to the botanical gardens in Malaga.  After finding the bus to take down there we sat down and chatted for the 15 minute bus ride.  After our stop we had a 15 minute walk down kind of shady streets, but the signs kept saying botanical gardens and we were all together so we weren't worried.  When we came up to gates, they were shut and locked.  We were all really confused and I went over to the sign to check things out.  Of course right above the times were the words Cerrado Lunes (Closed Mondays).  We all started laughing hysterically that we had made this long trip out to the gardens and they were closed.  It was actually a nice time with our friends so no one really cared about the gardens being closed.  We decided that we had made one trip and wouldn't bother to come again.

So instead, we came back to Calle Larios and got some delicious ice cream from a little shop called Smooy.  My selection, named Loop, was delicious.  The bottom was filled with orange slushy and vanilla frozen yogurt and topped off with strawberries, kiwi and raspberry syrup.  It was amazing.

Today, Ryann and I skipped school again and headed for the beach. We told Carmen last night that we were skipping school to go to the beach and she didn't care at all.  Actually, we woke up this morning to bacon, eggs and toast made for us.  It was delicious.  She was going to make us spaghetti for lunch but we asked her if it was alright if we took sandwiches to the beach and had the spaghetti for dinner instead.  She looked at Ryann and I and smiled big and told us, "You can have whatever you want here.  Out of all of the girls that I have had come and stay with me you both take care of my house the most, respect my house and me the most and are so polite.  Thank you so much for being this way."  It was so precious and Ryann and I are so glad that she likes us.  It made us both really happy to hear her say so.

We went to the beach and soaked up some sun rays and headed home because it was so stinking hot out.  We just got home and are taking showers, naps and then going to go out and finish up our gift shopping for our family.  I can't believe that we leave Malaga exactly a week from today.  I'll be home before I know it!

Vaya con Dios.
