This morning, it was really hard to wake up again. 7:30 came way too early and Ryann and I were very slow to get up. But, we arrived to school on time and had a really good day at school. Alvaro's class was funny today again. We were talking about the names of the fingers in Spanish and we asked him if it's bad to flip someone off here. He said "Oh my God, Yeah. It means f*** you." We all laughed because his Spanish accent makes anything he says in English funny. He then pulled me off to the side and told me that I was the most mature one of my class and that I act the most adult like of all, which was a good thing for me. I told him thank you:).
Grammar class went extremely well told and I understood a lot more what the differences between the preterit and imperfect are. She is really helpful, although she gets frustrated with us.
In our listening class today, Esther decided that we would listen to Spanish music. We were supposed to be listening to Me Gustas Tu by Manu Chao but we couldn't get the USB port to work on the CD player. Instead we got to listen to A dios le Pido, a favorite of my wonderful high school Spanish teacher and a song close to my heart. But, something really cool about it today was we learned what it was saying and I could understand it. And now I know why Senora Roessler liked the song so much. I put a link below to anyone that is interested in listening. A dios le pido in English means To God I ask. Here's some of the lyrics translated:
That my eyes wake up every day with the light of your look, I ask to God
That my mother will not die and that my dad remembers me, I ask to God
That you stay by my side and that you never leave from my life, I ask to God
That my soul never rests when it is about loving you my sky, I ask to God
For all the days that remain and the nights that haven't arrived, I ask to God
For the sons of my sons and the sons of your sons, I ask to God
That my country doesn't spill so much blood and my people will rise, I ask to God
That my soul never rests when it is about loving you my sky, I ask to God
That my mother will not die and that my dad remembers me, I ask to God
That you stay by my side and that you never leave from my life, I ask to God
That my soul never rests when it is about loving you my sky, I ask to God
For all the days that remain and the nights that haven't arrived, I ask to God
For the sons of my sons and the sons of your sons, I ask to God
That my country doesn't spill so much blood and my people will rise, I ask to God
That my soul never rests when it is about loving you my sky, I ask to God
After class, Ryann and I came home and we realized how ridiculous hot it was here. We were going to go to the beach with some of our friends but the heat changed out mind. Along with the fact that yesterday we were out in the sun for 5 or 6 hours, so our bodies were really tired. And people having been saying the water is contaminated and I don't want to mess around with that. So we just stayed in and took a nap instead. Carmen made us Sopa de pescado (Fish soup) today which sound disgusting, but it was really good. I had a clam in my soup and tried it, but it was not the greatest. I just quickly ate a french fry afterwards. HA! We also had some really good fish that was fried/seasoned really tastily and french fries and fried bread. Carmen tried to give us flan for dessert but I told her I couldn't eat another bit because she had already filled me with her delicious food.
Tonight, some friends want us to go to El pimpe, a wine tasting bar here, but we probably won't go unless I start feeling better. I've had really bad headaches lately and I think I'm beginning to get a sinus infection. Not cool. We will probably just stay in, rest, study and pack and get ready for our trip to Granada this weekend. We are really excited and have heard the city is beautiful so I'm sure some cool pictures are to come. I can't believe that it is already June 10th. The time is beginning to fly. Miss you all and sending love from Spain.
Vaya con Dios!
